Bar Denia in Freiburg im Breisgau

I'm a solo traveler, and went out of my way to visit this place following the good reviews. There were still 2 tables for 2 people available. I asked the owner (older man with glasses) for a table for 1. He told the waiter to check if any were available. The waiter came back, and told the boss in German that there were 2 tables available for me, yay! The owner paused for a few seconds, obviously thinking if he wants to potentially lose 50% income on a table. The boss turned to me, assuming I don't speak German, and told me there's no tables free. I told him I just understood from the German waiter that he said there were tables available, but he ignored me. I told him its very discriminating and that he'll get a bad review for this. He took this as a cue to follow me outside and threaten me about writing a bad review... (Tip:that is the best way to get a bad review.) His very poor defense was that all of a sudden they only serve parties of 2 (then why even check if there are tables available?!) People sitting on the terrace overheard and asked me to join them instead, apologizing for the owner being like this, and that it's not normal for Germans to behave like this. They even left a review confirming this happened on tripadvisor. Obviously the owner just responded with lies. I'm very surprised this restaurant doesn't have more negative reviews for their service. Tl;DR: Supposedly good food if you can tolerate discriminating owners.

Great Spanish restaurant, nice and warm atmosphere! Friendly conditions! We had almost everything from the menu from tapas to dessert - everything was delicious! The restaurant is recommended! We had a wonderful evening We will definitely go again!

Despite a few initial difficulties (our reservation was unfortunately no longer traceable or traceable vom) the boss did everything possible to enable us to have a wonderful evening anyway! The waiter worked fast, well-groomed and nice. From our point of view, a visit to the restaurant is highly recommended. The tables were perfectly cleaned and the chairs were extremely comfortable. Try this good cooking area, there is usually something for everyone on the menu with it.

Unfortunately, calamari is not good at all. Freezer quality! Quality has deteriorated. Not recommended. In our case, numbers only went together, not separately, although the staff announced otherwise! Ambience is nice though! Drinks okay, service waiting times as well.

Definitely one of the most beautiful places in Freiburg, where you can spend a wonderful evening! Large variety of delicious food, a pleasant cozy atmosphere and extremely friendly and attentive service. Definitely recommendable !!!!

Very nice place, service was not so good and messed around but nice. The vegetarian selection is quite limited and the price / performance is not right here. Eg for a little artichokes from a can + minimal what about 5 € I find really weak. The eggplant chips with goat cheese were good. Would rather drop by for a drink in the future than eat there.

As life goes: you actually wanted to celebrate your milestone birthday on your favorite island, but the familiar circumstances have thwarted the plan. The obvious alternative: Bar Denia. As always, we were simply blown away by the dishes prepared with love, skill and heart. Then there is the charming, polite and attentive service from all sides. Always happy and always happy again. Thank you gracias. Note: Even if it is not easy, the generally applicable regulations are implemented and followed in an exemplary manner !!

Really great class. The food nicely arranged, the taste very high, affordable wines and a nice, competent service. The furnishing and decoration in the restaurant and the beautiful terrace with the many plants make the visit a long unforgettable evening. We felt very comfortable. A reservation certainly makes sense. Hasta pronto!

One of my absolute favorites in Freiburg and certainly one of the top 10 in terms of quality, atmosphere and leadership. Here the boss (s) still stands in the shop every evening and you can tell.

Our favorite in Freiburg! It is not the first time and it will not be the last. Small bug on our arrival, the reservation system did not work ... the boss did everything to find us a small corner and well protected. Very varied choice of dishes, tapas and a menu of the day. Nothing to say, the same for the wine of the month. Excellent value for money and super friendly staff.

Nice tapas bar in the Freiburg Wiehre. The team was very nice and especially the food (we only had vegetarian dishes) very very good. My only two personal criticisms are the slightly over-tired and cheesy decoration inside (which of course is a matter of taste) and the fact that you could not sit outside to six. But still we were all fully satisfied and will come back :)

Flair of Spain in Freiburg. Definitely book as its super cosy, great array of food and wine. Will def be going back.

Nice tapas. Decor is eccentric but well done. Decent selection of wines but you can't go wrong with the hauswein.

Hammer Tapas

My favorite place for tapas in Freiburg, they have the biggest and best selection. Tempura veggies are a good price as well as the albondigas. They only have a few wines, but usually a good one in the mix.

Definitely recommended! In Freiburg, in my opinion, the best spanish place. There is a nice variation of tapas, good wine and atmosphere. On the weekend the restaurant is quite popular so I would advise to book a table before or, even better, a place at the bar with a look at the kitchen.
